Wedding: Carly and Jake

I'm so excited to share with you all a most lovely wedding! Maybe the lovliest of all, even. The wedding took place in theirs and my hometown of DeLand at an antique shop garden and cafe called Cafe Davinci.

When I asked Carly if I could share all about it on my blog and that I wanted to credit all of the contributers from the catering to the props and the dress, she gave me a short list... because she and her mother in law did almost everything themselves!

If any of you DeLand locals are getting married, know someone who is or are just throwing a fun event... Carly and Jake certainly recommend contacting any of the contributers below.

I wish Carly and Jake so much happiness and adventure in their many years together as husband and wife. This wedding is a beautiful start to their wonderful union!

Location: Cafe Da Vinci
Photography: Jenna Thorp
Greenery/Florals: Mark Grantham at the Magnolia Co.

Hair and Makeup: Carly and Dagny (mother in-law)

art for boys

Hey there!

Checking in to post two custom pieces I just finished for a cute little 5 year old boy! A teacher I work with asked me to design invitations for his 5th birthday! The invites came out so cute she asked if I could make it into a piece for him to hang in his room! Then, because he loves dinosaurs so much.. she also asked if I could whip up a cool dino for him to hang aswell!

I had  a lot of fun with these! Projects like this get me to paint things I never would have really thought to paint on my own.. awesome!

Alright! Check back tomorrow, I'll be posting on the lovely wedding I mentioned in my last post.

an update, a new design and a sneak peek!

And I'm back!

When I haven't been at my day job...I've been busy fishing, beaching and bike riding! And on the creative business front.. I've been doing a few custom projects and meeting with a wonderful lady who's opening up a craft gallery June 1st and will be selling my stationery!

Will be back to regular blog posting as of NOW. :) And I will soon certainly fill you in on all of the above fun mentions!

As for now...

I've had lots of orders for custom projects lately... which is AMAZING and quite flattering! Seriously, everytime I get an email for a custom piece I do a happy dance, treat myself to chocolate, call my husband and mom with the exciting news and then whip out my sketchbook right then. I love the whole creative process of custom projects.

In between the custom work... I found a little time to paint something just for fun.

What do you think? Would these be cute as a card?

And here's a sneak peek of my next blog post...

A friend of mine from my hometown DeLand.. got married recently! Their wedding was perfectly lovely and she's going to let me share all about it on here!

Check back SOON :)

Once again, Atlanta was good to us...

Howdy there friends!

Kell and I had a most fabulous time in his hometown of Atlanta! I managed to take zero pictures.. ugh. Reason being though is that we were having too much fun.. and I just plain forgot.

We didn't get in until VERY late Thursday night (4am).. actually Friday morning really. I tend to get too wordy if I try to describe a fun filled anything.. so I am a frequent user of list form..

Friday: woke to toasting bagels and lox, went to a few antique/resale stores in the area with my lovely mom-in-law (snagged matching rusty vintage folding chairs), boys went out and flew airplanes, lunch and girl time at the house, off to an early dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel restaurant (fancy!), then Kell and I went to Decatur and hooked up with our texas roadtrip buddies at a pub and met some of their fun friends too!

Saturday: woke to fluffy waffles and coffee, boys played in the basement and flew planes again, girl time in the sewing room finishing a shirt 3 years in the making (im such a sloooow sewer!), off to our friend Toni and Bryan's wedding, laughed and danced our butts off with lots of Kell's old high school pals, home to change, back to the wedding hotel where the family had reserved two walleyball courts.. played till our arms were purple.

Sunday: woke to fresh cooked eggs and sausage, girl time in the sewing room and on the sunny deck, guys went and flew planes (AGAIN!), sandwich lunch, boys came back and we killed brain cells watching Swamp People, then it was goodbyes for us and a 7hour rainy road trip back to Florida.

I miss our Atlanta family and friends. Did you see all of those delicious breakfasts I woke to?? I hate leaving everytime. It will be fun if we get to live there one day like we hope to! I just need to figure out how to get my parents to follow us. :)

Now I'm back to work at the elementary school and yours truly paperie. This morning I got an email from a woman in Mount Dora opening a local craft gallery... she wants to sell my stationery! Between this, my etsy shop and multiple custom design projects... I've been very busy with my little side business :) Finally broke even last month and now making money! Thanks be to God, I feel quite blessed on a daily basis.

Mr. Presely... I LOVE YOU!

Tonight I'm painting for another project and packing for our weekend trip to ATL.

I've been flipping my Elvis Presely record over and over all week :) Still enjoying it...

I've been a fan ever since my ears could hear.. he's the absolute best and he makes me want to dance!

Check him out! And I challenge you... try NOT tapping your feet and letting your knees turn shakey... you won't succeed, I promise.

this past week...

Hello there! My gracious this week has flown by... I can't believe I haven't posted at all since last Friday! Not much exciting has been happening.. just lots of busy goodness! Here's a wrap-up of my week...

Saturday: watched Top Gear on dvd with Kell, started a new book, grocery shopped, watched a movie, cooked dinner, painted, SNL.

Sunday: woke up late, church, laundry, cleaned, cooked dinner, went to my dear friend, Krista's house and baked cookies while she graded papers! good fun! :)

Monday: work, speed cleaning frenzy, hung out with our small group at Meghan and Nate's house getting their nursery ready for baby Lucas!

Tuesday: work, refilled kell's coffee a bunch while he studied, worked on a special custom website illustration project for a client, and updated the look of my blog (you like??).

Wednesday: work, came home to my SAINT of a husband shampooing and steam cleaning our carpets and couches! Yeah.. I'm a lucky lady! Went out for beers with my gal pal Amy (we share great fun and many laughs together)!

Thursday: work, organized our bedroom and closets, small group with our church buddies.

Friday: work, library, frozen yogurt and berry wind-down, and now I'm blogging!

I'm pretty positive more excercising (or any at all) should have been in that agenda.. so here's to trying next week! :) ha

Later tonight I'll be painting and drinking wine.
Tomorrow, I'll be in DeLand fishing and hanging out with my family!

Here are some pictures to compliment the wrap-up above...

I love a full fridge after grocery shopping..

Kell with the shampoo/steamer.. seriously.. I couldn't believe what I saw when I came up the stairs to him doing this and the house looking like this. Shock and amazement!

Don't barf. Isn't this disgusting?? What filth.. and we've only been living here 8 months. That's apartment living for you! Glad to know buckets and buckets of that nastiness are gone now. Thanks Kell!

Meet Ms. Moremen's 1st grade class pal, Bottlebot! Isn't he cool? They spent all week collecting recyclables and made him to celebrate earth day :) Check out his sporky hair!

Here's a little snap shot, sneak peak of the special design project I'm working on for a client's website... much more to come!

And finally... here I am, indulging in a chilly sweet treat after a good and busy week!

Happy weekend everyone! Enjoy the outdoors :)
